THE VEYMONT INSTITUTION
Privacy and your account.
What Veymont stores, what is public, and the controls available to you.
Account and private study
A native account stores a username, display name, a password hash, a recovery-code hash, and creation time. Session records store hashed session tokens, expiration, and a general browser label and sign-in time when available. Staff authenticator secrets are encrypted; staff recovery codes are stored as hashes.
Saved notes, reading history, course progress, examinations, and unreleased papers are tied to your account. Private study tools require sign-in. Unsubmitted Study Desk changes have a separate, account-scoped recovery copy in this browser tab. Signing out clears that tab copy. A person with access to your unlocked browser may be able to read it.
Publication and review
Approved journal papers and their published revision history and attribution are public. Lounge and paper discussions are moderated; approved posts are visible to the relevant signed-in readers, and published paper discussions may be public. Appointed reviewers can inspect submitted material after staff verification. Review decisions, publication history, and the public errata ledger preserve accountability.
Submitting work is separate from approval. Archive inclusion does not mean institutional endorsement.
Export and deletion
Account security provides data export, authenticated password change, device sign-out, and account deletion. Deletion removes your account credentials, sessions, private desk, study progress, examination records, unreleased manuscripts, and unapproved personal discussion contributions. Released papers, public attribution, and necessary editorial history remain; those records cease to be linked to an active account.
Deletion cannot retract copies others downloaded or material retained by external source providers. Infrastructure recovery copies and operational logs may have separate service retention; Veymont does not promise an unverified erasure schedule. No verified production restore or external alerting service is represented by this notice.
Source access and service requests
Veymont uses its hosting platform’s country metadata for territorial source restrictions. It does not accept a country supplied in a query or ordinary request header as proof of eligibility. Source providers such as Internet Archive and Project Gutenberg apply their own access terms and privacy practices when you follow their links or play their media.
The site and its hosting infrastructure process requests to operate the service, protect accounts, and diagnose failures. Necessary session cookies support sign-in. This notice does not invent a contact address or a retention period that has not been established.
